Top Ten Books I Was 'Forced' To Read

October 15, 2013

It's so nice to get back to the routine of writing Top Ten posts after so long! Things have been kind of tight recently, what with the festivals, and exams, and everyone in the family falling sick, etc. and I've haven't had as much time as I'd like to blog. And this is also a short reprieve before my exams start all over again, next week. Blah.

On a lighter note, I had so much of fun picking books for this week's topic! I love reading, but every once in a while, I feel like I HAVE to read a book, like I'm forced to. Sometimes that's not so great, but sometimes, it just about makes my day!

Top Ten Books I Was 'Forced' To Read Because...

So tell me... any books we have in common? Or have you read any of the books here? And what do you think of them? Love 'em or hate 'em? Let's talk!

  1. Ooooh I like the way you chose to pick your books! Honestly, I've not really read most of these books except for Pride and Prejudice which I loved. I'm always suspicious of people who dislike Pride & Prejudice...like seriously...there must be something wrong with them!

    1. I know right! It's like, the one book that you just have to love! It's my absolute favourite classic, and ties with The Blue Castle by L M Montgomery!

  2. I agree with you Elizabeth about the way the books are chosen, I love writing and I got my best writing guide from http://rachaelbermingham.com.au/product/how-to-write-your-own-book-and-make-it-a-best-seller-2/.

  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had issues with Specials and the House of Night series. I enjoyed the first three books in Westerfedl's series, but Specials lost me. I was all about House of Night, but then it just got strange. I ended up giving up on the series, too. I've successfully blocked out most of it.

    1. I liked the first one, Uglies, but I think at the time I read it, I wasn't didn't really understand the whole idea behind the series, and because of that I couldn't enjoy it wholly, but instead, it got disturbing after a point. I should re-read it sometime soon, and see what I think now :)

And omg, House of Night! You're right, fortunately, I've blocked out a lot of it too :D

  4. That makes me sad that Bend in the Road was a MEH book for you. It was my favorite Sparks book.

    Great list.

    1. Aw tastes differ, I guess :)

It's just that it was a bit of a disappointment for me, because I went in expecting A LOT. I love his movies to pieces, so I expected the same from the books, and I didn't get that, though they are really good. I guess I was setting myself up for a let down.

  6. I'm so glad to see that you liked Inheritance. I read books 1&2 of the series years ago and keep wanting to get back to it, but I've seen a few people disparage the ending. This gives me new hope! Gotta love Pride and Prejudice. I haven't gotten to The Fault in Our Stars. It's sitting on my kindle. Starring at me. So I really need to get to it soon. Great list!

    1. Read Inheritance! It's great! It's just the romantic aspect of it that lets you down, but otherwise, it's a very fitting conclusion to a wonderful series :D

  8. I love the way you set this out, wish I'd thought of books I had felt I was forcing myself to read! Instead I went for books I force others to read! I was also unsure about reading Where She Went because I loved If I Stay so much and didn't think it would live up to it, but I ended up really enjoying it as well! I loved The Fault In Our Stars and although I have read the first two Inheritance books, I own all four but haven't finished the series yet! My TTT

Leave a comment and say hi! Anything else is great too! :D

This blog is an award free blog. I'm truly honoured that you would think to nominate me, but unfortunately, things are really hectic for me what with juggling college, books, and blogging, and I find myself unable to spread the awards to other deserving bloggers.
